Cleaning Tips: How To Clean Lampshades.

Lampshades come in all shapes and sizes and are notorious dust collectors. In this post, I will give you some top tips and show you how we clean lampshades the professional way!

How to clean a lampshade

  1. Remove dust

Using either the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner or a soft brush get rid of any build-up of nasty dust.

  2. Remove any hair

Fabric lampshades can soon become a target for pet hairs and often the harder you rub with your microfiber cloth the worse they seem to stick.
I’ve found the best way to remove pet hair from a fabric lamp shade would be to use a lint roller over each section of the lamp until it has all gone.

  3. How to clean a stained fabric lampshade

Cleaning stains on fabric lampshades can be really tricky and I would avoid it at all costs. I would use the dry cleaner method as described above instead, rather than be left with nasty watermarks.
However, if you insist on attempting it you can spot clean the area and remove any dirt with a weak soapy water solution using warm water, and always make sure you do a pre-test first.

  4. How to clean lamp shades with pleats

Run a small, clean paintbrush down each pleat until all the dust is removed.
